I've worked live production in Vegas and Reno since 2017: lighting, video walls, audio, control, the whole signal chain. Milkhaus is what I run at home. It's a few servers hosting game servers, a movie site for friends, Discord bots, and a lot of automation for my house. A Discord bot built around Teto, an AI with long-term memory of the people she talks to. It also runs moderation, a stats dashboard, levels, welcome cards and text-to-speech, plus a few games with free chips. Nothing to buy.

This homelab

open source

The lab

How it's built

Three machines at home and one small VPS. Nothing at home has an open port. Web traffic comes in through the VPS or a Cloudflare tunnel, and everything else rides a WireGuard tunnel back to the house.

Everything runs in Docker on Ubuntu. The media box has a GTX 1660 SUPER for transcoding, and game servers get their own CPU cores so a movie transcode can't lag anyone out. Prometheus and Grafana keep an eye on all of it, and everything backs up every night to a second drive.

Nine years in live production

I started running lighting for a showroom in Reno in 2017, and these days I do AV for conventions and events on the Strip. A lot of it carries straight over to running servers: build it right before doors, watch it while it's live, and fix it fast when something breaks.

    AV and power for convention and banquet space. Room builds and strikes, event lighting, Crestron, and supporting clients while events are live.

    Ran lighting for a resort showroom for three years. Designed and programmed on ChamSys, kept the fixtures and LED wall running, handled show power, and ran camera.
